Dear Laurie - A green smoothie party sounds like fun! You could try using pears or peaches instead of apples. Let me know how it goes.

I just finished the book The Green Smoothie Revolution (bought it yesterday and could not stop reading). My neighbor had some of the neighbor women over for a green smoothie party yesterday and I was in love!!!! The science and research behind the green smoothie is phenomenal and makes SO much sense. I have highlighted many important parts of the book and recipes. I am shopping tomorrow and told my husband he is in this with me!!

I have one question, what can I substitute for apples in the recipes that have them in? I am allergic to raw apples.

Thanks so much Victoria for starting this revolution!!

I love, love, love lambsquarters! One thing about it that I have not seen mentioned, and maybe it only applies in my area or other deserts---check the back of the leaves. If there are shiny, gritty feeling little grains there, you will need to wash the leaves several times to get rid of them, otherwise the lambsquarters will be very bitter, just like its near relative quinoa! (Those grains are saponins, used by the plant to prevent dehydration.)
